Folksvagen Sharan/Sharan repair>> Introduction>> Works on repair and service>> Check of level of engine oil and its replacement Oil level in the engine should be checked regularly through each 600 km, but is not more rare than an once in a week. The car thus should stand on an equal surface, and the idle engine should be still warm. If the engine hot, wait some minutes that oil has flown down in the pallet.
For check of level of oil take масломерный щуп and wipe its pure rag. Then again insert щуп into place and once again pull out it. Oil level should be between the top and bottom risks. On щупе various marks (fig. 10) can be put.
Depending on oil level it is necessary to arrive as follows:
- If oil level is in area limits an oil level in the engine corresponds to norm and to add it it is not required;
- If oil level is in area limits b quantity of oil in the engine as a whole sufficient, but it is possible to add it to risks b;
- If oil level is in area with it is necessary to add oil in the engine at least to level within area b.
Do not pour some oil above top risks as it can be sucked in in ventilation system картера and pollute the air filter and besides to damage the catalyst. For the 2,0-litre engine with the oil filter at oil replacement 4,7 l, and for engine VR6 (with the filter) — 5,5 l is required.
Through each 10 000 km or at least once a year it is necessary to make replacement of engine oil and the oil filter. Such periodicity of replacement of oil is considered normal at usual driving on the car. If it is necessary to go often with the trailer on dusty roads or to make short trips (7—8 km) at temperature of air below zero, or often to stand in stoppers where the engine long time works on single turns oil replacement should be made more often.
«Volkswagen» recommends oil which should correspond to norms of firm — № 500 00 or 501 01. Necessarily make sure that filled in oil corresponds to this norm.
Before oil replacement establish the car on a platform, the lift or a viewing ditch. Remove a protection guard картера the engine. Substitute capacity for gathering of the fulfilled oil and turn out a screw drain stopper in the pallet картера. To accelerate oil plums uncover a jellied mouth for oil or pull out масломерный щуп. Engine oil should be warm, but not hot. After oil plum wipe a stopper of a drain aperture rags and twist it. Fill in corresponding to requirements of the manufacturer oil to normal level according to indications масломерного щупа and replace the oil filter (replacement of the oil filter is described further).
