Before removing a cranked shaft that it is possible to make only on the dismantled engine, measure an axial backlash that the nobility at assemblage, whether it is necessary to change adjusting washers on the average radical bearing (fig. 440).

Insert щуп on the average bearing (number 3) between a cheek of a cranked shaft and the inserted adjusting washer as it is shown on fig. 441 and check up size of an axial backlash which should settle down in limits from 0,07 to 0,17 mm. The greatest backlash should not surpass 0,37 mm.
Pay attention to, that the axial backlash has been chosen completely, for what rest the lever (is better the wooden handle of any tool to avoid damage) in a cheek of a cranked shaft and with its help wring out a shaft aside. Inserting various on a thickness щупы, establish exact size of a backlash.
It is possible to measure an axial backlash by means of the indicator which should be attached to the face party of the block of cylinders, and to establish a measuring finger on an end face of a cranked shaft. After that press a cranked shaft in an indicator direction. Establish the indicator on a zero and press a shaft in an opposite side. Look backlash size on the indicator.
