Starter removal spend in a following order:

- Disconnect "a mass" wire from conclusion АБ (do not forget about a protective code of a radio tape recorder);

- Raise a forward part of the car and establish it on support;

- Remove a noise isolation from below a motor compartment;

The work course has differences for the 2,0-litre engine and for engine VR6:

The 2,0-litre engine

Before to disconnect wires from a starter, remove a black plastic cover and disconnect an electric socket of the involving relay being under it (fig. 337);

- Disconnect a socket (the plug «50») from the involving relay and turn away a nut of the plug «30» (fig. 338) and unbend a wire aside;

- Turn away a nut and bolts of fastening of a starter. The nut (fig. 339) is wound on an adjusting pin;

- Remove a starter.

Starter installation spend in an order, the return to removal, carrying out the following:

- Tighten a nut (fig. 340) fastenings of a starter by the moment 45 Н·м;

- Pay attention to correctness of joining of wires;

- Tighten a nut (fig. 339) (located over already tightened by moment 45 Н·м a nut see) the moment 10 Н·м;

- Tighten a nut of the plug «30» moment 10 Н·м;

- Connect АБ and enter a protective code of a radio tape recorder and at once check up starter work.

Removal and installation of a starter from the car with engine VR6

On car Sharan with engine VR6 removal and starter installation is carried out in the way described above, however that fastening of a starter there are following features a little:

- The starter fastens on engine VR6 from a manual transmission by means of a bolt 2 (fig. 341) and nuts 1 (at installation they are tightened by the moment 45 Н·м);

- On engine VR6 with an automatic transmission the starter fastens nuts on adjusting pins. At installation of a starter the nut (fig. 342, it is shown by an arrow) is tightened by the moment 60 Н·м;

- Tighten the bottom nut (fig. 343, it is shown by an arrow) starter fastenings to engine VR6 from an automatic transmission the moment 60 Н·м;

- Tighten a nut (the marksman, fig. 344), крепящую the holder of a wire the moment 10 Н·м, and a nut of the plug «30» moment 10 Н·м.
