16.1.1. Check АБ

On cars Sharan are established lead-acid АБ consisting of 6 separate accumulators connected consistently among themselves and placed in electrolit (25—30 %-s' solution of sulfuric acid Н2SО4 that corresponds to density of electrolit of 1,25-1,31 g/sm3).

АБ consists from:

- Monoblock with compartments for accumulators;

- Covers with the jellied apertures closed by stoppers;

- The negative and positive plates collected accordingly in semiblocks;

- Separators;

- Current carrying shoes with выводными probes and the interelement crosspieces serving for consecutive connection of accumulators in the battery.

Established in Sharan АБ has following basic technical characteristics:

- Rated voltage, In       12

- Nominal capacity:

  With the engine of 2,0 l        48 А·ч

  With engine VR6       60 А·ч

- Electrolit density (at air temperature °С):

  АБ   it is completely discharged       1,12 g/sm3 (16 °)

  АБ  it is completely charged        1,28 g/sm3 (32 °)

On cars Sharan are established unattended АБ, ready to work — filled in with electrolit and заряженны, i.e. under normal conditions in them it is not required to add operation of electrolits. Nevertheless carry out following recommendations about operation АБ:

- Before service АБ put on an apron from a canvas or прорезиненной fabrics — it will protect your clothes from electrolit splashes;

- Periodically (at least once in two weeks) clear a surface of cover АБ as a dust, a dirt, electrolit droplets on it lead to the fast self-category;

- For clearing АБ moisten a pure rag in 10 %-s' solution кальцинированной soda or liquid ammonia, wipe it surface АБ, and a brush with a rigid bristle clear all places where it is difficult to steal up a rag;

- Then wipe АБ dry, the used rags will throw out, and a brush wash up water;

- Check up a condition of polar conclusions АБ. A large white or greenish touch remove a rag moistened with hot water;

- Smooth out conclusions АБ and plugs of wires an emery paper of average granularity to metal shine;

- After connection of the smoothed out tips of wires with conclusions АБ both those and others cover with a protective film (greasing ПВК or ВТВ-1, "Unisma", WD-40, etc.);

- Finishing clearing АБ, wash up and wipe dry its lateral walls and a bottom. It will prolong tray service life on which it is established, and the metal details located in the neighbourhood;

- Check up level of electrolit which should be not below located on an outer side of case AB of the bottom line. If level of electrolit is less than norm, it is necessary to add the distilled water;

АБ, discharged in the winter more than on 25 %, remove from the car and charge.
