Cross-section steering draughts are not identical, therefore the left draught is designated by the letter «L», and right — the letter «R». The arrangement of labels is shown on fig. 262. If at carrying out of the checks described further you establish that cross-section steering draughts are faulty, it is possible to replace them, without removing the steering mechanism:

- Covers of hinges should not be damaged;

- Start the engine. Turn forward wheels in any party and, keeping the hinge of cross-section steering draught a hand, twist a steering wheel to the right-to the left (operation is carried out together). If you notice the increased backlash, replace the hinge;

- Raise the car in front and strongly pull cross-section steering draught forward-back. If in the hinge it is felt люфт, replace the hinge;

- In the same way check up the internal hinge. For this purpose remove a sealing cuff of a steering. If at check of the internal hinge it will be found out люфт completely replace cross-section steering draught.
